I has to sell my JD 955 do to neighborhood ordinaces. I live on a golf course community with my parents. I am still in college. The neighborhood was having problems with me leaving my JD 955 outside and some other equipment. I have no room inside for it. The garge and shop (golf cart garage) are full of landscaping equipment. They wouldn't approve a new shed or garage, even though it matched then house. So i had to sell it but the same thing happened to one of my other Neighbors. He had it outside and couldn't get a shed approved. I bought his Kubota B7500 w/loader and mower for $9000 and it only has 140 hours on it. He paided $15,300 for it and its loaded. I already got a snowblower and snow plow for it. The B7500 fits in my golf cart garage with my ZTR stand on mowers. The JD 955 was to tall and long to fit. I got $8500 for it which is what i paid for it. I had a friend who helped me out by buying it. Don't i have great neighbors.

Sorry to hear of the problems you ran into with the neighorhood asscociation. That is why I live out in the country. I can't live like that. At least you got a good tractor out of the deal and looks like you didn't come out too bad money wise. You still got a nice tractor either way. I guess you are gonna have to change your handle now ehh? itsgotobeorange????? ;-) Sadly freedom is a thing that is quickly disappearing in this country. ....

It has become a sad state when the Homeowners Assoc. can tell you what you can and can not have in your yard. I mean I understand it to some degree as I have lived w/ Homeowners Assoc. for the last few years and with no zoning laws in our County it does protect your investment, when you pay big bucks to have a nice house built and then someone buys the lot next door and puts up a 1910 trailer on blocks and 5 cars in pieces in the front yard. ( Seen It ) But common sense must prevail. I have a friend who lives in a sub-division that told him he was not allowed to park his Pick-up ( 2000 Ford F150) in his drive-way. It had to be in the garage at all times. ( Why becuase the president of the association is a city boy from DC and doesn't like the impression of a Pick-up in his WV neighborhoood. Needless to say my friend told them to pack sand and take him to court. ....

It pays to read those restrictions,before you write the check! If I can't take a leak anywhere,anytime in my yard
then I wouldn't live there.
At least you go rid of that JD! ....

That is one of the reasons we moved last year, The sub division we moved into is 20 years old and still does not have a formal association. Although that is soon to change as Urban sprawl has made it from DC to our area and they have built 6 new home in the last 6 months. You can bet I will be getting on the board of the association when it actually does form. Sometimes I think city folk just never learn common sense. Must be something in the air ....

Chief-I can't change it "itsgottobeorange" I still got one john deere tractor a old JD 214 which paided for the JD 955 and the JD 312. But i also sold the JD 312 to pay for the rear snowblower and snow plow for the kubota. So it should be "greenandorangeinharmony".
wbowhunt-Tell your friend to go buy himself an old 1970's F-150, jack it up, put some 45" tires on it, park it in the driveway and see what that city boy says. Make sure he paints it primer gray.
Dame city people they rather buy stuff ready made. Me i rather buy something used and fix it. Or take something and turn it into something else. I already finished off my first welder, need a new one (miller 210). We should take these city boys out to texas or somewhere and show them what real people do for a living. ....

The idea of 'live and let live' sure does get lost in government machinery sometimes. Neighbourhood associations are government in my book and usually pretty self-indulgent government.
We had an illustration that nobody is safe from nonsense even in the country. The large rural township where my brother in law lives amalgamated with an adjacent town--they were sort of forced to by big government. The new town council passed a bylaw limiting the number of cats that could be kept--guess it was a problem in town. Well, there was sensitivity that town and country are different so the bylaw allowed farmers to have more cats then townees--recognizing the value of barn cats in controlling mice etc. However, the barn cats still had to be licensed.
I think that licensing barn cats was so dumb it probably was never enforced. Funny, I always thought the purpose of barn cats was to improve my aim--with milk that is. Our township escaped amalgamation by just sitting it out. We're so small we can't be found. Small is good. Our entire council was returned by acclimation last month. We're happy too. Sorry about the tractor. Here people have 'truck farms' sitting around but we don't need associations. Wives get rid of them if they get too big. ....

Just an aside, Chief, my sentiments exactly! concerning the golf course lad who was being beaten down with ordinances. I bought 8 acres and built my barn, pasture and was told by the township horses were not allowed..I'm five miles outside a small town! but I fought them and won. But you are very correct, our liberties are fast being erroded every day. They are making zoning laws so restrictive, makes me wonder why I put four long years in for Uncle Sam, back in the early 60's...thanks for helping me out with the post on the JD4210. I'm still confused on which to buy but am narrowing my search. ....
